Cengage Group is making a bold commitment to reshape the future of education with artificial intelligence, unveiling a wide-ranging set of initiatives aimed at students, teachers, and institutions across the U.S. and beyond. With over $10 million already invested in AI content and platform development since 2024—and annual increases planned—the company is positioning itself as a leader in safe, transparent, and impactful AI adoption in classrooms.
AI NEWS – At the policy level, Cengage is participating in the SIIA Working Group on Developing Transparency Standards for AI in Education, helping to shape best practices for how AI tools are disclosed and deployed in schools. The company is also launching its own working groups and engaging the broader education community to create meaningful transparency standards.
On the product side, the fall of 2025 will see the launch of AI-enabled curriculum across 100+ courses, spanning high-impact disciplines such as Economics, STEM, and Business. These offerings include adaptive learning platforms, enhanced assessments, and AI-assisted tutoring designed to boost student engagement and improve learning outcomes. With this expansion, Cengage expects to reach more than 1 million learners immediately.
For students, the AI Student Assistant—scaled from 21 to over 100 titles for Fall 2025—will provide multi-modal learning support, grounded in pedagogy and tailored to individual needs. For educators, the Instructor Insights Assistant, already piloted with 500 faculty, is scheduled for a nationwide rollout in 2026. This tool will help hundreds of thousands of teachers deliver more personalized and effective instruction.
Professional development is another cornerstone of Cengage’s strategy. Through its Empowered Educator Series, including webinars, live and virtual events, and resource hubs, the company plans to reach more than 50,000 educatorswith AI literacy training and classroom best practices. These efforts extend to K-12 districts nationwide, where Cengage is piloting AI curriculum and professional development programs, especially in STEM and career technical education (CTE) pathways.
Cengage is also investing heavily in next-generation AI research, with patent-pending training methodologies and partnerships aimed at setting new standards for safe, ethical, and effective AI use in education. Faculty and student advisory boards—representing more than 600 educators nationwide—are actively shaping the direction of these initiatives, ensuring they are practical, impactful, and scalable.
